Holders Celtic suffered their first defeat in almost a year in the Scottish Premiership after they were surprisingly beaten by home team St. Mirren on Sunday. Celtic had not lost for 364 days before they took on St. Mirren last weekend. Ahead of the game, manager Ange Postecoglou and his players were heavy favourites to take the three points on offer. However, they failed to live up to that status after the game ended in defeat. The defending champions were handed a 2-0 defeat by their hosts.
St. Mirren produced their best performance of the season to see off Celtic thanks to a goal in each half. Scottish star Mark O’Hara gave St. Mirren the lead with two minutes left to play in the first half before English midfielder Jonah Ayungawrapped up the win for the home team in the second half. Ayunga scored eight minutes into the second half to seal the win for St. Mirren.
