SACKED LAMPARD LINKED WITH CHELSEA JOB
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been linked with the managerial job at Scottish Premiership champions Celtic since he lost his job as the Blues manager. Frank Lampard was the Chelsea manager for 18 months before club owner Roman Abramovich pulled the plug on his managerial reign at the club despite his good relationship with Lampard.
Frank Lampard is a legend at the club after a distinguished playing career at Stamford Bridge. He still holds the record for the most goals scored in a Blues shirt. Frank Lampard was unable to replicate his high playing level at Chelsea when he became their manager.
Lampard was appointed the Blues boss at the start of last season and he had to deal with a lot of issues including the transfer ban imposed on the club by world football's governing body, FIFA. Despite the transfer ban, Frank Lampard and Chelsea were able to qualify for Champions League football ahead of this season. Frank Lampard also gave debuts to a lot of the young players at the club. Lampard was unable to continue his good run as the Blues boss this season despite leading his team to start the season well. Things began to fell apart in November when the current poor run started.
Frank Lampard showed what he can do in his first season as a Chelsea manager and he could do well for Scottish champions Celtic, who have played second fiddle to Rangers in the league this season. Frank Lampard could follow in the footsteps of Brendan Rodgers who managed Celtic for a number of years before he left them in the middle of the 2018/19 season to take the Leicester City job. Brendan Rodgers won three trophies each in three straight seasons at Celtic. Frank Lampard could be a good replacement for Neil Lennon, who's under pressure to keep his job as the Celtic boss.
